Turmeric Tonic

Ingredients
  

  • 2 fresh turmeric root grated on a microplane, or 2 tsp dried
  • 3 cardamom pods crushed
  • 0.25 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons honey

Instructions
 

  • In a small saucepan, combine turmeric and cardamom with 2 cups water and bring to a boil. Simmer for 10 minutes, then remove from heat. Strain the liquid through a fine sieve, and add 2 more cups water.In a small bowl, whisk lemon juice and honey to combine, then add to turmeric mixture. Chill. Serve over ice.  (Recipe #851)
